Weight Range Calculations

If calculating BMI is not for you, Portion Doctor will walk you through another simple method of estimating your best weight.

Women: Give yourself 100 pounds for the first 5 feet of your height and add 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet. Plus or minus 10%.

   Example: 5'4"; 100 pounds + 20 pounds = 120 pounds is your best weight.
   Range of 108 to 132 lbs.

Men: Give yourself 106 pounds for the first 5 feet of your height and add 6 pounds for every inch over 5 feet. Plus or minus 10%.

   Example: 5'9"; 106 pounds + 54 Pounds = 160 pounds is your best weight.
   Range of 144 to 176 lbs.

Reminder: Peoples bodies can differ tremendously from very muscular, large boned or very lean so keep in mind the BMI and Weight Range Calculations are used. Not everyone falls neatly into these guidelines, if you have any questions about your results contact your physician or dietitian.
